Steeped in history

Corning’s Southside neighborhood is a national historic district comprising approximately 600 homes on the south side of the city of Corning, NY. Life on the Southside is heavily influenced by the geography of the hill itself, rising steeply from First Street to the top of Sixth Street, and bound by Chemung Street to the east and State Street to the west.

The neighborhood on the Southside hill was one of the original residential areas for the City of Corning, and home to the community’s first churches and parks. Now a mix of homes, apartments, businesses, schools, and more—all within walking distance to Corning’s historic Market Street.
