Our ProjectsWe are hands on in helping to improve our community. TREE PLANTING Each year we identify blocks within the historic district in need of trees, and have planted 40+ trees in the past five years. Here is a volunteer crew at Bampa’s House on East First Street. Volunteer to help FLAGS & LUMINARIES Neighborhood volunteers festoon blocks with American flags to celebrate national holidays. Luminaries were distributed along sidewalks to add cheer to the 2020 holiday season. Volunteer to help NEIGHBORHOOD YARD SALES Every few years, we rally homeowners for a group yard sale day. SNA covers the advertising and signage, and participants manage their sale and keep the proceeds. HISTORIC MARKERS SNA coordinates maintenance for Corning’s historic markers, and works to identify potential sites. Signs will be fabricated and installed in 2021 to recognize the War Memorial Library and the home of Amo Houghton. ANNUAL CAP AWARDS Each year, SNA recognizes significant improvements by property owners in the historic district through the Corning Architectural Preservation (CAP) and “CAP’s Off” awards.
